SYNOPSIS

Situated in the midst of tea plantations in Fujian, the raised fortified houses, some round, some square, comprise the traditional habitat of the Hakkas since the 17th century. Looking at the lives of these farmers, owners of original traditions that have developed over thousands of years, which are still in use today. Their houses can hold up to 400 people stemming from one family line. In all, their lives represent a unique social and architectural model whose continued existence is threatened.
