SYNOPSIS

Kaleidoscope in 'American Night'... A quick trip to the Babelsberg studios, those of the former prestigious UFA, in the inner suburbs of Berlin. Kaleidoscope goes back over the great periods of this place, which was for a time the avant-garde of European film production. Today, backstage of the numerous sets we catch up with the manager, filmmaker Volker Schlöndorf. He gives us a guided tour of the ups and downs of the history of German filmmaking: from the Weimar to the 3rd Republic, from the GDR to reunified Germany.
