SYNOPSIS

Kaleidoscope turns street peddler… Denpassar is an enormous building situated on the river shore. Inside, the parking lot is gradually transformed into a marketplace as the day progresses. The stalls replace the cars, and street hawkers officiate from the back of their vans. A little further on, along the ramparts of the market, petals are sold for offerings. Sacks full of multicoloured petals are on offer, as well as freshly cut grasses to weave baskets for the offerings. In the middle of the market is the temple. Here, women dressed in traditional, highly coloured Balinese costumes hustle and bustle around. In the surrounding streets all the trade guilds are grouped according to their specialty: gold sellers, photographers, bike sellers, tailors, fabric sellers... Around 2 a.m., activity slackens off, the dogs retake possession of the place, the cleaners do their job, and people snatch a few hours sleep here and there. As early as five o'clock in the morning the whole thing gears up again... In Denpassar, that's the way the days go by.
